Please note that this product will now be from pigs raised in either Canada or Austria. Both farms are all-year free-range pigs raised without the use of growth hormones, preventative antibiotics, or other nasties. There is no difference in quality or package size.
Horizon Farms proudly presents probably Japan's first all-natural, sugar-free, free-range pork bacon. This took us a year of experimenting and many costly batches. Here we are:
This bacon is cured in an all-natural curing process using only natural spices. Absolutely no nitrates added, no curing salts, no celery, no sugars, no artificial ingredients, no nasties. Then smoked for a duration of 2 hours using natural hickory smoke. Cured for 2 weeks, smoked, sliced and blast frozen. The result is amazingly good bacon that you can enjoy with your whole family. This tends to be more the American style bacon that crisps up and shrinks rather than the lean British or Canadian bacon which is usually made from the pork loin. Family-farm produced, ethically raised high-quality pork and top-quality natural spices.
We use the pork belly which has a relatively high-fat content - the juices are what make our bacon so succulent. The pork comes from pastures of Austria or Canada of which are both free-range and completely free of growth hormones and antibiotics. Hands down, this might be the cleanest bacon available. A difference in quality you can taste.
Each pack contains 300g worth of pre-sliced bacon. The thickness is 2mm which is your average bacon thickness used for burgers or breakfast. Cook on high heat without adding any oil in the frypan. Due to the high-fat content of the pork belly, the slices will shrink in size and crisp up. Best suited for a family breakfast, as a burger topping, to wrap around asparagus or to wrap a filet mignon steak. See the cooking instructions below.

Defrost the pack of bacon in a bowl of water (less than 1 hour) or in the fridge overnight.
One pack is enough for 4 persons. Once opened you can leave the pack in the fridge for up to 2 more days. Please do not refreeze again for quality reasons.
Prepare a frying-pan to high heat and place the bacon slices without additional oil or butter into the frying pan.
The pork belly that we use for the bacon is relatively high in fat and it will show during cooking. The bacon will also shrink in size and become crispy - the very characteristics of American style bacon. Turn them once to have a crispy surface on both sides.
If you have a splatter screen at hand, use it.
Take off the bacon from the heat once crispy brown. Place on a kitchen paper towel for a while to "drain the bacon from the grease".
Serve for breakfast, as a burger topping, wrapped around asparagus or a filet mignon steak.
Enjoy crispy bacon. All-natural - without sugar - without nasties and free-range pork.
Translated from Japanese: I ate it with sukiyaki-style seasoning and wrapped the meat with plenty of vegetables and mushrooms.
Sliced meat is easy to eat no matter what the dish is.
Translated from Japanese: I haven’t tried it yet…
I was looking for additive-free, safe and secure bacon like this.
I wanted to make bacon epi, but I wanted the safe bacon to be delicious, too.
It's hard to find bacon like this in supermarkets, and they’re with additives! So I think they’re too expensive.
I've been curious about this bacon ever since I found it, but this time I took the plunge and ordered 3 packs of this bacon and 2 other items.
As you can see, it’s safe and with natural colors. It looks delicious.
I received it frozen, so I first thawed one pack in the refrigerator.
One pack contains plenty of meat, so after thawing it, I’d like to divide it into smaller pieces and freeze the rest, so I can use it little by little.
After reading the enclosed pamphlet, I realized that we’re eating meat that we don’t understand well.
I’ve been refraining from eating processed meat as much as possible because eating additives makes me sick, but I’m especially happy to be able to eat delicious bacon from now on.
Translated from Japanese: When I bought this together with frozen fruits for the first time as a trial, I was surprised that the bacon was so delicious. I have been reordering it many times ever since then.
It has become a staple of my home and my son’s favorite.
Translated from Japanese: I bought this additive-free bacon because I can’t get it in the supermarket!
Because it was a large amount to eat for 3 people, I separated it in half, froze one half and was able to use it twice.
The taste was delicious. I also recommended it to my family.
Translated from Japanese: Bacon is also a staple of my home and is one of the items I always want to have in stock. I stir-fry it to make Minestrone soup and, of course, the crispy bacon is excellent. There is no strange odor or scent and I’m glad it’s a product I can eat with confidence!
