Certified organic green shell mussels from New Zealand. These mussels are very convenient and easy to prepare. They are well suited to many types of preparations including sauté, frying, baking, steaming, broiling, stewing, and grilling.
The mussels come individually quick-frozen for convenience. Each bag weighs 1kg (2.2lbs.) which equals around 30 units. Simply remove the number of mussels you need to defrost from the bag at any time. You can quickly thaw them by running cold water over the mussels for about 10 minutes while moving them around to ensure they are equally defrosted. Although the mussels have been slightly blanched, they require thorough cooking. Not suitable for raw consumption.
These premium grade green shell mussels are grown in the clean clear waters of New Zealand's Stewart Island. Location is key when growing high-quality mussels, which is why mussels grown in Stewart Island are the only organic certified green mussels in New Zealand. No use of antibiotics or chemicals at any point. Each mussel is hand-processed under strict hygiene regulations and the growing waters are constantly monitored to ensure the highest quality and safety possible. All processing and packing are undertaken in New Zealand.
Please note this item is officially certified organic in the country of origin but due to bilateral agreements not yet recognized as certified organic in Japan. We're in the process of having this product recognized as certified in Japan as well.
