Cold-smoked Arctic Char, wild-caught in the remote waters of the Canadian Arctic. Rarely available in Japan and even more rarely found as a smoked product, this fish is prized for its vibrant red-orange color and exceptionally clean flavor. Each pack contains 113g (4oz) of carefully sliced Arctic Char, gently cold-smoked and seasoned only with salt. No sugar, additives, or preservatives are used, allowing the true character of the fish to shine. A refined alternative to smoked salmon, these slices are ready to enjoy straight from the pack and can be served on a charcuterie board, in a salad, or paired with a classic cream cheese bagel. Naturally leaner than most salmon, Arctic Char has a delicate yet distinct taste that seafood lovers will immediately recognize as something beyond the ordinary.
This fish is wild-caught using traditional methods by the Inuit fisherfolk of Pangnirtung, just off the coast of Baffin Island in Nunavut. Fishers travel across frozen lakes on snow machines and use only nets and long lines to catch the fish through up to 8 feet of ice, for minimal disturbance to the environment.
