This product's packaging may have a strong octopus smell even when unopened. Please note that the smell may spread to other products packaged together. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your understanding.
To maintain freshness, this octopus is delivered with its natural protective coating intact. The viscous coating on frozen octopus can often be rinsed off easily with running water, but for any remaining residue, gently rubbing it with salt will remove it completely. We particularly recommend this salt-rubbing process if you plan to enjoy the octopus raw.
One 300g (10.5oz) raw sashimi-grade octopus tentacle, MSC-certified sustainably caught in the pristine waters off the coast of Australia. This premium Fremantle octopus has become synonymous with fine dining - renowned for greater tenderness than other octopus and a mild, sweet flavor. This unique flavor is due to their diet which is made up of rock lobster, abalone, scallops, crab and other exquisite seafood. Wild-caught and produced with the consumer in mind, you can rest assured this octopus is completely free of hormones, preservatives, or other nasties. 100% pure, premium octopus.
Western Rock Octopus is a nutritional powerhouse, offering benefits comparable to chicken thighs. Rich in protein yet low in calories, fat, and carbs, it also boasts high levels of iron, vitamin B12, copper, selenium, and omega-3 fatty acids. This raw cut opens up the full range of preparation methods from raw sashimi to cooked dishes like seafood pasta or paella. For best results, we recommend grilling the octopus to highlight its natural taste and add a touch of smokiness—just serve with a drizzle of olive oil, a squeeze of lemon, and fresh herbs. Try it for yourself and share your favorite preparation method with us.

About Western Australian Octopus
Fremantle Octopus, the producer of this product, has made a significant mark on the international seafood market. While most octopus fishing utilizes trawling methods that gather creatures of all kinds, Fremantle use their patented Trigger Trap to attract and capture only their target octopus. This trap not only protects other species and babies from being caught by mistake, but also prevents "ghost fishing." The massive increase in catch rates has also allowed them to record and release more small octopi for valuable academic research into sea creature populations. Operating in specifically monitored zones off the Western Australia coast, data is recorded every step of the way to ensure total traceability and transparency.
