MSC Certified All-Natural Steamed Shucked Oysters from Japan (1kg)
Choose options
1kg (2.2lbs) of MSC certified, shucked and steamed oysters from the mineral-rich waters of Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Cultivated in the Eastern part of the Seto Inland Sea, the oysters grow rich in flavor due to the nutrient-rich river water flowing in from one of the 100 cleanest water rivers in Japan. The oysters are gently steamed after being harvested, using a unique patented method that prevents quality loss. This method increases the condensed flavor and creates a moist, fluffy texture. Free of antibiotics, chemicals, additives and other nasties.
The oysters are quick frozen in a freezer with three times the power of conventional freezing machines to ensure that the best flavor is preserved. Thanks to this method, seasonal oysters can be offered all year round. As advocated by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in Japan, the oysters are heated before freezing to prevent the contraction of viruses, such as the norovirus. To ensure further safety, a third-party organization conducts microbiological inspections such as testing for the norovirus, making it possible to enjoy these oysters with no worries of food poisoning.
Steamed oysters are a versatile seafood that can be used in a wide variety of dishes. As they're individually quick-frozen, you can take out just the amount you need at a time. After thawing, these steamed oysters can be enjoyed in Japanese dishes such as sushi, with soy sauce, lemon, vinegar or even just on their own. Also can shine in western dishes such as salads and carpaccio. Transform a regular dish such as pasta, Ajillo, gratin, hot pot and more into a luxurious meal with ease. Also worth noting, as these oysters have already been cooked, they won't shrink after heating them up.

These oysters are ethically and sustainably fished without disturbing the endangered Indo-Pacific finless porpoise living nearby and holds the "Certified Sustainable Seafood" MSC certification - which is a way of showing that a fishery meets international best practices for sustainable fishing. In further attempts of more sustainability, the discarded oyster shells are reused for soil improvement and as chicken feed.
