What are SDGs?

SDGs stands for Sustainable Development Goals. These goals were adopted by the United Nations in September 2015 to put an end to poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. The 17 goals and 169 targets pledge to "leave no one behind" on the planet. The SDGs are not only applicable to developing countries, but also encompass universal efforts that advanced countries, including Japan, actively pursue.

Horizon Farms' Ambitions

  • We at Horizon Farms work directly with small-scale farmers and producers that are often also family-owned to ensure that only organic, additive-free, all-natural, high-quality and, last but not least, sustainable foods reach you.
  • In an effort to adhere to animal-welfare, all of our meat products are from animals that have been raised free-range, free of hormones, free of antibiotics and free of chemicals, which ensures a healthy life and environment.
  • When packing orders, we only use environmentally friendly recycled kraft paper and no plastics.

Additionally, we also strive to achieve the SDGs through the following initiatives:

--------------------------------------------------------

Through the adoption of a flex-time system, we aim to improve the skills and productivity of our staff while creating a better company environment and work-life balance.
--------------------------------------------------------

We aim to increase the number of foreign staff hired and regularly accept foreign nationals as interns to provide equal opportunities for social studies regardless of nationality.

--------------------------------------------------------

  • We aim to reduce food waste by selling products with minor defects (with no defects to safety) instead of needlessly throwing them away.
  • We use cardboard boxes and packaging materials made from 100% recycled materials.
  • We aim to use environmentally friendly plastics as product packaging.

By offering JAS (Japan Agricultural Standard) certified organic produce and sustainable seafood, we aim to provide environmentally friendly and sustainable products.
