Bacon from the pork belly is the typical American style bacon that crisps up and shrinks. The pork belly has a relative high-fat content - the juices are what make our bacon so succulent.
Pre-sliced bacon. The thickness is 2mm which is your average bacon thickness used for burgers or breakfast. Cook on high heat without adding any oil in the frypan. Due to the high-fat content of the pork belly, the slices will shrink in size and crisp up. Defrost the pack of bacon in a bowl of water (less than 1 hour) or in the fridge overnight.
One pack is enough for 4 persons. Once opened you can leave the pack in the fridge for up to 2 more days. Please do not refreeze again for quality reasons.
Prepare a frying-pan to high heat and place the bacon slices without additional oil or butter into the frying pan.
The pork belly that we use for the bacon is relatively high in fat and it will show during cooking. The bacon will also shrink in size and become crispy - the very characteristics of American style bacon. Turn them once to have a crispy surface on both sides.
If you have a splatter screen at hand, use it.
Take off the bacon from the heat once crispy brown. Place on a kitchen paper towel for a while to "drain the bacon from the grease".
Serve for breakfast, as a burger topping, wrapped around asparagus or a filet mignon steak.

I was really hopeful about this bacon. I just recently moved from the US and didn't know there was an American-style bacon until I came to Japan.
I ordered this with high hopes, since I cook a lot of different foods requiring bacon. Unfortunately, this was not American bacon. Close, but not it.
The meat is high quality and was delivered very quickly. But weirdly enough, it's probably too high quality. There was almost no fat in the bacon. It was too lean. Even cutting it, the meat felt crumbling and I wasn't sure if it was precooked based on the texture while cutting.
American bacon is like 50-80 percent fat. The cooked texture of the bacon I ordered wasn't right, it was dry. It didn't have the chewy fat texture that bacon has and the was no shrinkage or sshriveled.
If I were to compare it to a bacon sold in America, I would say this more resembles turkey bacon. It's like a healthy alternative to bacon, which is not what I want.
It also lacked a smokey flavor, but had some type of black pepper on it. I don't know if I will order this again. I'll have to look elsewhere for my bacon needs.
This is the real deal, it actually gets crispy when you cook it!!! Very good bacon. Thankfully someone is selling American style bacon here at a reasonable price. I'm beyond tired of Japanese bacon that isn't even from pork belly, let alone cured... different taste and very different texture, may as well just fry some ham... ought to be illegal to even call the stuff in Japanese grocery stores bacon at all.

When I took a little bite of it, I was skeptical that bacon could taste this good. I was doubtful, but ended up eating more than anyone else. It was delicious bacon that made a bacon hater become a bacon lover. Next time, I will buy it in bulk.
This product is so very close to being like American bacon. We are in Japan and couldn’t find bacon my kids liked until we ordered from horizon farms. The delivery has been very prompt and customer service has been great. The only difference is it’s a bit smokier than bacon in America and not quite as salty. But my kids are loving it so it’s good with me.
